Our expertise in the Power industry include Conventional, Nuclear and Renewable Energy.
Walter Tosto WTB has a consolidated history in the nuclear sector. As Fecne, it was an important point in the collaboration program between the French and Romanian governments (1979), since President Mitterrand provided to President Ceausescu the drawings and the specifications of the Framatome Usine (Saint Marcel).
In 1980, under Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd (AECL), Fecne began to manufacture heavy welded components for nuclear power plants. It was involved in the manufacturing of the majority of the critical items in the nuclear island for Cernavodă 1 and 2 Nuclear Power Plants in Romania, as well as Candu 6 in Canada.
Iter Nuclear Project
ITER (“The Way” in Latin) is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today: 35 nations are collaborating to build a magnetic fusion device (tokamak), that has been designed to prove the feasibility of fusion as a large-scale and carbon-free source of energy.
Walter Tosto WTB is participating in the machining of Flexible Housings (FH) for PS1, PS2 and PS3 of the five EU sectors of the ITER Vacuum Vessel, the heart of the tokamak.
The activities include acceptance of the incoming material, machining and NDEs.
